Not as authentic as I was expecting.
Received book early and in good conditon. I am unhappy about the few recipes in it and the author's directions, but THIS IS NOT AMAZON'S FAULT; I will just check out the author's more carefully in the future. Thank you anyway.

I was hoping for something more substantial and authentic. The book contained few recipes and those seemed very generic. Arroz con pollo without culantro or capers just isn't arroz con pollo to me. Cocina Panamena was more in line with what I was looking for.
I absolutely recommend this book to all cooks as an excellent reference to panamainian style and cuisine! The chicken and rice recipe is almost identical to my grandmothers and it was THE recipe I was curious to see. Best part is, I think that this book is printed per order, which means the date you ordered it is printed on the back. So if it is a gift or keepsake, it adds an extra cherry on top! Thank You!
I have a friend from Panama who kept raving about everything about the country, including the food. She directed me to a Facebook page that is all about the culture, Taste of Panama, and that's where I learned about this book. The Facebook pages had great pictures of the dishes, and I thought it would be fun to learn how to make some new, international recipes.
Overall all, I am really pleased with the "Taste of Panama" book. The recipes that I have made so far are really tasty. I live in a major city, so the special spices were not hard to find. Other people might have to order them online. The finished dishes are actually very attractive. It was fun to serve them. I always cook my special meals for guests.
